Afterschool Enrichment Program

Afterschool Enrichment Program Update During School Closures

We are disappointed that the kids will not have the opportunity to participate in all the wonderful Enrichment Classes we had planned, but we remain hopeful that some classes will continue virtually and hope you will seek out other enrichment opportunities while kids are at home.

Winter session classes: Fortunately we were at the end of the session and we hope the children enjoyed the classes. If you have not heard from your Class Provider already, please contact them directly with any questions or to request a refund. Your Class Provider does not have your payment information and cannot automatically refund you.

Spring session classes: Enrichment Matters is working with the Class Providers to determine next steps. They have told us this will take a few days to work out. If you have questions or would like to cancel now, you will need to work directly with Enrichment Matters (info@enrichmentmatters.com). We will keep everyone posted as we learn more.

In the meantime:
One of our Class Providers, SPARK Business Academy, is offering online classes during this interim mini-session (3/30-4/10). See Wednesday mail or Facebook for the link. The PTA has also gathered resources on our Facebook page. Feel free to post or send us your favorites to share.

The following information was received from Enrichment Matters on 3/25 re: Spring Session:

Within the next 1-2 days, we will be emailing families who were already enrolled in spring classes with the options below. Please note that if your school is not running a traditional spring session, your EM Ambassador will reach out to you about your particular situation.

Credit. A full credit for enrichment to be used anytime in the 2020-2021 school year. This will be the default option for families that do not respond to the email by April 15th.

Refund. An 85% refund of the tuition paid. We are retaining 15% to cover the credit card processing fees we incur (both when we receive funds and when we return funds) and because we also must pay a staff person to administer the refunds.

Donate. As you know, virtually all of our Providers are very small businesses that operate on narrow margins and the cancellation of spring classes is devastating for them. Instead of a credit, if a family would like to donate their already paid tuition (all or half), their payment to the Provider would help them out tremendously during this challenging time.

General information

The Stenwood PTA is pleased to offer an Afterschool Enrichment Program for our students. The PTA liaises between the school and a third-party provider, Enrichment Matters, to secure the class schedule and space. We also provide overall support to the program. If you have questions/feedback on the overall program, please contact our VP of Enrichment at enrichment@stenwoodpta.org.

Enrichment Matters contracts with independent Class Providers to teach the classes and manages registration. If you would like additional information or have questions about registration, a class, or a provider, please contact info@enrichmentmatters.com.

Once a class begins, your main point of contact will be your Class provider/Instructor.

**This information is neither sponsored nor endorsed by the Fairfax County School Board, the Superintendent, or this school.

Class Logistics and Expectations

For those participating in the program, please carefully review the Class Logistics and Expectations Information available on the right side of this page under "Info and Forms". Provider Contact Information is also available under Info and Forms.

Please Remember:
1. Students go to Cafeteria to sign-in and meet their instructors as soon as they are dismissed from class.
2. Pick up your children at front school lobby (Door 1) at 4:25PM.
3. Report absences if a child cannot attend a class.
4. Classes follow the school calendar and inclement weather policy.
5. Classes follow the same classroom rules and behavior expectations.

**Parents are NOT permitted to go through the school to use bathrooms, cut through to Kiss n Ride parking area, or visit classrooms before or after pickup. School offices close by 4:25pm and the Class providers are responsible for the child once class begins.

**Class providers have their own late pick-up policy and fees may be incurred if you are late to pick up your child. The school and PTA will not be responsible for your child after 4:25pm.
