Wellness

Stenwood's PTA wants all of our kids to thrive. To be "well." So we established the Wellness Committee to support a healthier learning environment through initiatives that encourage physical activity and good nutrition.

GIRLS ON THE RUN
In the spring, we'll be bringing back this popular girls-only program that builds confidence through walking and running as a team after school. You can read more about the program at: http://www.gotrnova.org/.

REAL FOOD FOR REAL KIDS
Healthy, well-fed kids are better prepared to learn during the day.  So, if the PTA's goal is to help our school foster the best possible learning environment, then part of that effort is good food. Real food.

Did you know that the hamburger patty served in school lunches has more than 25 ingredients?   And the quesadilla...more than 70 ingredients. You can view them yourselves on the Food and Nutrition Services website at: http://www.fcps.edu/fs/food/food_at_school/IngredientLabels/index.shtml

There's a nationwide effort underway to help schools change the way food is purchased, prepared, and delivered.  For more information, click here and head to our page on the Real Food for Real Kids initiative and see how you can help.
